A bolero composition created in 1932 by Mexican musician Consuelo Velázquez, this piece achieved significant status within Latin music history and emerged as a widely-adopted pop standard throughout the twentieth century, also establishing itself as a jazz standard. The song earned recognition in 1999 for being the most frequently recorded and adapted Spanish-language composition. Notably, versions performed by Trio Los Panchos and vocalist Gigliola Cinquetti were released in 1968, while Dalida recorded another rendition in 1976.
