John Lennon composed this song in 1957 during the early years of his songwriting career, making it one of the initial compositions attributed to the Lennon–McCartney partnership. The Beatles performed it during a failed audition with Decca Records on January 1, 1962. The track eventually appeared on the 1995 compilation release Anthology 1. An informal recording from 1960 exists but has not been made available through official channels.
