"Dear Prudence" appears on the Beatles' 1968 double album titled The Beatles. John Lennon composed the song and it was credited under the Lennon-McCartney partnership. The composition was created in Rishikesh during the band's early 1968 visit to India, drawing inspiration from Prudence Farrow, sister of actress Mia Farrow, who became intensely focused on meditation while studying under Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Lennon and George Harrison, her meditation course partners, sought to encourage her to emerge from isolation, motivating Lennon to create this piece.
