A Christian hymn originally composed in Swedish in 1885 by Carl Boberg, with an English translation created in 1949 by Stuart K. Hine. The hymn gained widespread popularity through performances by George Beverly Shea and Cliff Barrows during Billy Graham's religious crusades. It has achieved significant recognition, being voted the British public's favourite hymn by BBC's Songs of Praise and ranking second in surveys of all-time favourite hymns conducted by Christianity Today in 2001 and Songs of Praise in 2019.
