This album represents Presley's fifth studio effort, released by RCA Victor in both mono and stereo formats. It marked the first of three gospel albums he would release during his career. The recording took place in Nashville at RCA Studio B during late October 1960. The album achieved moderate chart success, reaching number thirteen on the Top Pop Albums chart, and later received gold certification in 1969 and platinum certification in 1992.
