The song was composed by Sam Bobrick and Beverly Ross and initially appeared in 1959 as the B-side of Charlie Blackwell's single. Marty Vine recorded a version in 1960, but Elvis Presley's 1960 cover featuring the Jordanaires became the most well-known rendition, reaching number nine on the United Kingdom singles chart. Other artists including Ral Donner, Johnny Burnette, and Bryan Ferry subsequently recorded their own versions.
