This song was composed by Willie Nelson and initially recorded by country artist Billy Walker. Columbia Records released Walker's version as a single in June 1961, where it reached number 23 on the country chart. The track later appeared on Walker's 1963 Greatest Hits compilation. Nelson subsequently recorded his own version for his 1965 album titled Country Willie: His Own Songs.
