Arthur Gunter originally wrote and recorded this song in 1954 for Excello Records. Elvis Presley recorded a cover version the following year on Sun Records. The song later influenced John Lennon, who incorporated a line from it into the Beatles' 1965 track "Run for Your Life" on the Rubber Soul album.
