"Commotion" by Creedence Clearwater Revival appeared on the Green River album and served as the B-side to the album's title track single. Written by John Fogerty and recorded at Wally Heider's Studios in San Francisco during June 1969, it marked the band's first session at that studio and their initial work with engineer Russ Gary. Despite its B-side status, the song achieved chart success, reaching No. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and No. 16 in Germany. A 1980 single release paired it with "Tombstone Shadow."
