"All by Myself" is a composition by Eric Carmen that debuted in December 1975 as the initial single from his self-titled debut album, distributed through Arista Records. The song's verse incorporates musical elements from Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2, while its chorus derives from an earlier Carmen composition called "Let's Pretend," which he had previously performed with the Raspberries in 1972. Hugh McCracken contributed a slide guitar solo. The track achieved significant commercial success, peaking at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and establishing itself as Carmen's most successful pop chart release.
