Vol. 4 is Black Sabbath's fourth studio album, released in September 1972 through Vertigo Records. It marked a significant shift in production responsibility, as guitarist Tony Iommi took over production duties for the first time in the band's history, replacing longtime producer Rodger Bain. Band manager Patrick Meehan received co-producer credit, though his actual contribution to the album's creation was reportedly minimal.
