Ballad Of Easy Rider

The Byrds All songs A–Z

Roger McGuinn composed this song with assistance from Bob Dylan for the 1969 film Easy Rider. It first appeared in August 1969 on the movie's soundtrack as a solo McGuinn recording, then was re-released in a different arrangement as a Byrds single on October 1, 1969. Rolling Stone's David Fricke praised it for encapsulating the cultural atmosphere of late 1969 and expressing the disillusionment and exhaustion stemming from a decade of social upheaval.
