The Belafonte Folk Singers

The Belafonte Folk Singers were a vocal ensemble that operated between 1957 and 1965. Originally assembled to provide vocal support for performer Harry Belafonte's recordings and live performances, the group became known by his name. Robert De Cormier served as the primary leader and conductor throughout the group's tenure, with Milt Okun occasionally taking on conducting duties. The group represented an important part of the folk music landscape during the late 1950s and early 1960s.
