The Walkmen is an American rock band that emerged from New York City in 2000, blending post-punk revival and indie rock sensibilities. The group was formed by members drawing from two earlier projects: Hamilton Leithauser and Peter Matthew Bauer came from The Recoys, while Paul Maroon, Walter Martin, and Matt Barrick (drums) originated from Jonathan Fire*Eater. This convergence of experienced musicians created a distinctive sound rooted in angular rock arrangements and introspective songwriting. The band's lineup has remained consistent since their inception, establishing them as a notable fixture in the contemporary indie and rock music landscape.
