Black Tape for a Blue Girl is an American dark wave and gothic rock band established in 1986 by keyboardist and songwriter Sam Rosenthal, who also founded the independent label Projekt Records. The group's sound blends elements of darkwave, deathrock, and neofolk aesthetics. Their work has attracted a diverse audience of notable figures, including filmmaker David Lynch, actress Sasha Grey, horror author Poppy Z. Brite, and paleontologist-author Caitlín R. Kiernan. The band remains a significant presence in underground and alternative music circles.
