Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) is an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1970 by Jeff Lynne, Roy Wood, and Bev Bevan. The group pioneered a distinctive sound blending pop melodies with orchestral arrangements and futuristic aesthetics. Following Roy Wood's exit in 1972, Jeff Lynne assumed creative leadership, authoring most compositions and overseeing production across their discography. Lynne and Bevan remained the group's core members throughout their initial active period until 1986. The band reunited for performances and recordings in subsequent decades, continuing their influential legacy in progressive and symphonic rock.
