Citizen Cope is an American singer-songwriter and producer whose work blends folk rock with elements of blues, soul, hip hop, and rock. Born Clarence Greenwood, he has crafted a distinctive musical style that has attracted attention from prominent artists across genres. His compositions have been recorded by musicians including Carlos Santana, Dido, Pharoahe Monch, and Richie Havens. After recording with several major labels including Capitol, Arista, DreamWorks, and RCA, Cope established his own independent record label, Rainwater Recordings, in 2010. He continues to record and produce music through this imprint, releasing the album Heroin and Helicopters in 2019.
