Sonic Youth

Youth was an American rock band active from 1981 to 2011. Emerging from New York's experimental music scene, the group blended elements of punk, post-punk, no wave, and noise rock with art rock sensibilities, contributing to the alternative and indie rock landscapes. Their sound incorporated experimental and grunge-influenced approaches throughout their three-decade run. The band was among the artists affected by the 2008 Universal fire, which destroyed master recordings held by the label.
