The Whitlams
The Whitlams are an Australian indie rock band established in late 1992, led by keyboardist and vocalist Tim Freedman. The group's original lineup featured Andy Lewis on double bass and Stevie Plunder on guitar and vocals; however, the band experienced significant personnel changes throughout its history. Between 2001 and 2022, Freedman performed alongside bassist Warwick Hornby, guitarist Jak Housden, and drummer Terepai Richmond, a configuration regarded as the band's most stable and recognizable. Four of their studio albums achieved top-20 positions on the ARIA Albums Chart: Eternal Nightcap, Love This City, Torch the Moon, and Little Cloud. Notable singles include "Blow Up the Pokies" and "Fall for You," both reaching number 21, while "No Aphrodisiac" topped the Triple J Hottest 100 in 1997. The Whitlams remain central figures in Australian rock music.
