Give Ireland Back To The Irish

Paul McCartney All songs A–Z

This was Wings' inaugural single, released in early 1972. Paul and Linda McCartney composed the track in response to Bloody Sunday, a tragic event in Northern Ireland where British military personnel fatally shot thirteen civilians engaged in civil rights demonstrations on January 30, 1972. The band recorded the song just two days after this incident at an EMI facility in London. The recording marked the first appearance of Northern Irish guitarist Henry McCulloch as a band member.
