Cocteau Twins

Twins Cocteau were a Scottish rock band formed in 1979, known for blending post-punk sensibilities with electronic and ambient textures. Emerging from the British underground, they became pioneers of a distinctive sound that merged gothic rock elements with ethereal, dreamlike atmospheres. The group worked extensively with the influential 4AD label, helping to define the shoegaze and dream pop genres of the 1980s and early 1990s. Their experimental approach incorporated dark wave and ambient techno influences, creating music characterized by layered production and atmospheric depth. The band remained active until 1997, leaving a lasting impact on alternative and electronic music.
