The Tremeloes are an English beat group established in 1958 in Dagenham. Originally performing as Brian Poole and The Tremeloes, they rose to prominence during the British Invasion with eight UK top 40 hits between 1963 and 1965, including the number-one single "Do You Love Me." Following the departure of founding members Brian Poole and bassist Alan Howard in 1966, the remaining musicians reorganized as a four-piece vocal group. This iteration achieved considerable chart success, earning 13 additional top 40 hits from 1967 to 1971, notably "Silence Is Golden," "Here Comes My Baby," and "Me and My Life." The group has undergone various lineup changes since the early 1970s but continues to perform.
