The Time Lords are a fictional extraterrestrial species featured in the British science fiction series Doctor Who. Originating from the planet Gallifrey, they developed time travel technology and established a strict non-interference policy in universal affairs. Members who abandon this doctrine and venture into the wider universe are known as renegades, including the Doctor, who commandeered a TARDIS and fled their world. The Time Lords were first introduced in the 1969 serial The War Games and subsequently appeared throughout the series as both antagonists and allies. Following the show's 2005 revival, the species was revealed to have been destroyed by the Doctor during a conflict with the Daleks, though they were later restored before being killed again in subsequent storylines.
