Ten Lost Tribes

Ten Tribes were ten of the twelve tribes of ancient Israel that were displaced following the Neo-Assyrian conquest of the Kingdom of Israel around 720 BCE. The displaced tribes—Reuben, Simeon, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Manasseh, and Ephraim—were separated from Judah and Benjamin, which remained in the Kingdom of Judah and survived until the Babylonian siege of Jerusalem in 587 BCE. The Levite tribe, though not granted territorial lands, was allocated dedicated cities. This forced relocation, termed the Assyrian captivity, reflected the Neo-Assyrian Empire's systematic resettlement practices applied across its conquered territories.
