The Surfaris are an American surf rock band that emerged from Glendora, California, in 1962. They achieved regional and national success with their 1963 single, which paired two contrasting tracks: "Surfer Joe" and the instrumental "Wipe Out." The latter gained particular prominence, charting on the Hot 100 in June 1963, followed by "Surfer Joe" later that summer. The group became influential figures in the surf rock genre during the early 1960s, contributing to the wave of instrumental and vocal surf music that defined the era.
