The Sugarcubes

The Sugarcubes were an Icelandic alternative rock group that emerged from Reykjavík in 1986 and disbanded six years later. The ensemble featured Björk Guðmundsdóttir as a core member alongside vocalist Einar Örn Benediktsson, guitarists Þór Eldon and former member Friðrik Erlingsson, bassist Bragi Ólafsson, keyboardists Magga Örnólfsdóttir and former member Einar Melax, and drummer Sigtryggur Baldursson. Blending post-punk, synth-pop, and dream pop influences, the band became notable figures in Iceland's alternative music scene during the 1980s and early 1990s.
