The Soup Dragons

The Soup Dragons

Soup Dragons were a Scottish rock group that emerged in the mid-1980s and disbanded in 1995. Taking their name from a character in the 1970s children's program Clangers, the band blended electronic elements with indie and power pop sensibilities. They achieved their greatest commercial success with a cover of the Rolling Stones' "I'm Free," which reached number 5 on the UK charts in 1990. The group also found American success with "Divine Thing," which charted in the US top 40 in 1992. Their work exemplified the British indie pop sound of their era.
