Simon Diaz was a Venezuelan musician, performer, and composer who became one of the country's most celebrated cultural figures. Born in 1928, he built a multifaceted career as a singer, actor, television host, and comedian, earning Grammy recognition for his contributions to Venezuelan music. His compositions, including the iconic "Caballo viejo," "Tonada de luna llena," and "La vaca Mariposa," remain beloved throughout Latin America. Known affectionately as tío Simón, he left an enduring legacy in Venezuelan popular music until his death in 2014.
