Sailor Moon is a Japanese manga series created by Naoko Takeuchi that ran in the shōjo magazine Nakayoshi between 1991 and 1997. The narrative centers on Usagi Tsukino, a Tokyo schoolgirl who discovers her ability to transform into the title character. As Sailor Moon, she leads a team of allied warriors, known as Sailor Soldiers or Sailor Guardians, in their quest to locate the Legendary Silver Crystal and protect the Solar System from destruction. The serialized work comprised 60 chapters and additional stories, later collected into 18 volumes. The series became a defining work in the magical girl genre.
