Ray Brown and the Whispers
Ray Brown & the Whispers were an Australian rock band active from 1964 to 1967, fronted by vocalist Ray Brown. The lineup included Lawrie Barclay on rhythm guitar, Al Jackson on lead guitar, Pat Jeffery on drums, and John Manners on bass. The group released four studio albums between 1965 and 1966 and achieved chart success with cover versions including "Pride," "Fool, Fool, Fool," and "In the Midnight Hour." Their final single, "Too Late to Come Home," featured backing vocals from the Bee Gees. Brown departed before 1967, pursuing a solo career and forming additional groups, while the Whispers disbanded that year.
