The song was composed by Sandy Linzer and David Wolfert in 1982. The Four Tops recorded and released it as a single from their album One More Mountain that same year. Although it did not achieve significant mainstream chart success in the United States, it performed moderately well on the Billboard Hot Black Singles chart, where it reached number 40 in early 1983.
