Plain White T's is an American pop rock band formed in 1997 by high school friends in Lombard, Illinois. The founding members—Tom Higgenson, Dave Tirio, and Ken Fletcher—were later joined by Steve Mast. In their early years, the group built a grassroots following performing in Chicago's basement venues, clubs, and bars before expanding their reach beyond the local underground scene. The band's sound blends alternative rock, acoustic rock, and pop punk influences, establishing them within the broader indie and emo pop landscape.
