Plácido Domingo is a Spanish opera singer, conductor, and arts administrator born in 1941. Throughout his extensive career, he has recorded over a hundred complete operas and performed across the world's most prestigious opera houses in multiple languages including Italian, French, German, Spanish, English, and Russian. Initially established as a lirico-spinto tenor, he became particularly renowned for roles such as Cavaradossi, Hoffmann, and Don José. He gained critical acclaim for his interpretations of more dramatic roles, notably becoming the most celebrated Otello of his era. In the early 2010s, he transitioned to baritone repertory, performing roles including Simon Boccanegra. As of 2020, he has undertaken 151 different operatic roles.
