Outkast was an American hip-hop duo formed in Atlanta, Georgia, consisting of members Big Boi and André 3000. Emerging in the early 1990s, the group became one of the most acclaimed and influential acts in hip-hop history. Known for their sophisticated wordplay, catchy melodies, and uplifting messages, Outkast achieved both critical and commercial prominence from the mid-1990s through the mid-2000s. They played a significant role in elevating Southern hip-hop to mainstream prominence while pushing genre boundaries through experimentation with funk, psychedelia, jazz, and electronic elements.
