Nonexist was a Swedish melodic death metal group formed in 2000 by Johan Liiva, a former vocalist for Arch Enemy, alongside guitarist and bassist Johan Reinholdz and drummer Matte Modin. The band released their debut album, Deus Deceptor, in May 2002 through New Hawen Records in Europe and Century Media in North America. Plans for an international touring lineup developed in 2002 but did not materialize, partly due to the members' involvement in concurrent musical projects. The group disbanded in 2004 after Liiva and Modin departed in 2003, with Reinholdz continuing as the primary remaining member.
