New Kids on the Block are an American boy band from Dorchester, Massachusetts, formed in 1984. The group features brothers Jonathan and Jordan Knight alongside Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, and Danny Wood. Rising to prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s, they achieved remarkable commercial success, selling over 80 million records globally. Their accomplishments include two American Music Awards in 1990 recognizing their contributions to pop and rock music. The group is widely recognized for establishing the boy band template that influenced subsequent acts such as Take That, Backstreet Boys, and NSYNC, fundamentally shaping the landscape of contemporary pop music.
