The Mills Brothers were an American vocal quartet who became one of the most prolific and successful recording artists of the twentieth century. Originating as Four Boys and a Guitar, they rose to prominence during the jazz and traditional pop era beginning in 1928. Over their five-decade career, the group recorded more than 2,000 tracks that achieved exceptional commercial success, selling over 50 million copies worldwide and earning at least thirty-six gold records. Their remarkable consistency and vocal virtuosity made them influential figures in American popular music until the group's dissolution in 1982.
