Mental as Anything

Mental As Anything is an Australian new wave and pop rock band that emerged from Sydney in 1976. The group's core creative force comprised Martin Plaza on vocals and guitar, Reg Mombassa on lead guitar and vocals, his brother Peter "Yoga Dog" O'Doherty on bass and vocals, Wayne de Lisle on drums, and Andrew "Greedy" Smith on keyboards, vocals and harmonica. The band achieved considerable success on Australian charts through both original compositions developed across its lineup and cover versions of classic rock and roll standards. Their interpretations of material by artists including Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry helped establish them as significant figures in the local music scene.
